Though it’s an investment at $1,199, consider that you’re getting almost three cleaning devices in one package: a robot vacuum, robot mop, and a hand vacuum for reaching all the areas the robot misses.

Its streamlined footprint impressed us, and setup was a breeze — it's ready to clean with just the press of a button.

Robot vacuums are great maintenance cleaners. If you hate cleaning your floors or just want to extend the length of time in between cleanings, consider investing in one.

In a separate 4x5-foot framed area, they note whether the vacuum gets caught on power cords or carpet fringe and whether it can transition over different materials. They also measure the height of the vacuum to determine how likely it is to glide under furniture.

The iRobot Roomba Combo j5+ is a solid performer in CR’s tests, with smart-mapping technology and avoidance technology. In our assessments, it excels at cleaning bare floors but performs less well on carpet.

Eufy X10 Pro Omni is the best robot vacuum for most people. This self-empty robot vacuum and mop checks pretty much all our boxes. The suction power is excellent, pulling all kinds of debris, fluff and hair and fluff out of our tester's carpet (although it did flick larger debris about rather than sucking it up – a problem with almost all robovacs). It's relatively quiet in all but it's very highest vacuum setting, too.

Most manufacturers do not recommend moving the base after it has been set up so it’s important to pick a spot where it won’t be too obstructive or your robot will have to re-map your home.

Once the robot is docked, a vacuum in the docking station automatically sucks the contents from the bin into an enclosed disposable bag in the base. This vac also has mopping capabilities, but unlike the Combo i5 and Combo j5+, you don’t have to swap out the bin for mopping because it can vacuum and mop simultaneously.

Though there are options that cost under $100, we have never found a high-quality robot model in that price range, though there are plenty of other good inexpensive vacuums.

It's an uncertain time, and while it'll be some months before we know Top 3 Automatic Vacuum Cleaners what'll happen to the brand next, and there are currently no signs that anything will change, but since many features rely on the company's services and app, should these close, you may lose out on some of the device's functions.
